So who is Samuel Koch? The relatively unknown name began trending on Twitter Saturday afternoon, and it turns out to have quite a bit to do with a German reality TV show known as "Wetten, Dass..." and also Justin Bieber.

Here is what happened according to numerous reports -- the show is a competition in which the host (and often celebrities) often bet on some sort of stunt performed by contestants. However, on Saturday one stunt went particularly south as Koch attempted to do flips over a series of cars and ultimately suffered a horrific accident. He lost consciousness for a considerable period of time, but as of this writing has regained consciousness and will begin his recovery.

As for the Bieber connection, Justin was scheduled to make an appearance on the show this weekend. To explain his absence, Justin posted this on his Twitter account:

"Just want to let my people in Germany know I won't be on Wetten Dass tonight as an accident has taken place and.... we all don't think it is right to continue. Please pray for Samuel Koch & his family as we wait and hope for his health and safety."
